The Carabinieri have further intensified controls in the Lamezo area. After the arrest, carried out by the Carabinieri, of the alleged person responsible for the fires and damage that occurred in the city last May and after the arrest of the two men, held responsible respectively for the double attempted murder of last 23 October and the murder in the Ginepri area the following day, the Carabinieri of the Lamezia Terme Company with the precious help of the Operational Intervention Teams of the 14th Carabinieri Battalion Calabria, have searched far and wide for the territory, with an extraordinary operation that involved the city center and the suburbs. There are multiple open fronts.
The services, arranged by the Provincial Command of Catanzaro, also saw the participation of the Special Departments, especially in the main meeting places. And the numbers speak for themselves. During the checks, carried out over the weekend, around ten checkpoints were carried out, with around hundreds of people identified. Eighty vehicles were checked and around ten infringements of the Highway Code were reported. The administrative seizure of a vehicle was ordered which was found to be uninsured.
In particular, a man was caught driving a car without a licence, having never obtained it, while a boy was found in possession of a switchblade which he was carrying illegally in his car. He had hidden it inside the glove compartment, but it did not escape the eyes of the Carabinieri who searched the vehicle and reported it. There is also high attention on the world of youth. In fact, two of them were found with three grams of marijuana. They were reported to the Prefecture for drug use.
Not just the road. The Carabinieri also carried out administrative checks in six public businesses in the city, to verify compliance with sector regulations, with the qualified contribution of the NAS (Anti-adulteration and Health Unit) and the NIL (Labour Inspectorate Unit).
The NIL service made it possible to ascertain the presence of three irregular workers at a hairdressing salon, for which the activity was suspended and a fine of 14,200 euros was issued.
In a supermarket, however, the NAS Carabinieri found hygienic-sanitary deficiencies, seizing 19 kg of expired food products. An administrative fine of 3,000 euros was raised.
The force’s tight control activities in the territory will continue in the coming weeks.
