Fiorentina achieved their second success in the championship by beating Cremonese with a goal almost at the end of time. Moise Kean decides who, having taken over shortly before, breaks through the visitors’ wall which collapses at the best moment after an almost perfect match from Baschirotto and his teammates. For the Gigliati the rankings now become less difficult with a -3 from fourth from last place Genoa and with Paolo Vanoli who strengthens his bench, which was in the balance until a few hours ago. For the guests, a stop that doesn’t hurt too much, but the bitterness over the missed point remains. The start of the match already gives a first signal as the hosts approach very well with Vanoli’s choice to deploy the 4-1-4-1 which turns out to be spot on. The guests, in fact, are always numerically inferior in midfield and it is no coincidence that Bondo, booked in the 20th minute, was removed after 8′ by Nicola, worried about the risk of being left with ten men. In terms of scoring chances, the Viola stand out with a shot from outside the area blocked by Audero and a header by Parisi following a cross from the left by Ranieri. Cremonese never becomes dangerous in De Gea’s area, with Vardy excellently controlled by Comuzzo, helped on the doubles by Pongracic.

In the 36th minute, an episode that will cause discussion as the referee, La Penna, who offers a very disappointing performance, awards a penalty for a foul by Baschirotto on Piccoli, but is then convinced by Var Marini for an alleged foul by the Viola attacker. From then on the nervousness on the pitch grows and the match director expels one member each from the two benches: assistant coach Gigliato Cavalletto and sporting director Grigiorosso Giacchetta. On the threshold of half-time Gudmundsson challenges Audero again. Cremonese had their first great chance to take the lead in the 56th minute, following an incorrect clearance by Ranieri which Vardy collected, but at the moment of the assist for Bonazzoli, Comuzzo, the best of his team, was perfect in closing. It’s the debut in the lily jersey for Solomon, deployed as an attacking right winger in place of Parisi, while Gosens takes over from Ranieri. Fiorentina reduces danger and intensity. In the final Vanoli chooses Fortini, centralizing Gudmundsson behind Piccoli. The Icelandic himself warms the gloves of the visiting goalkeeper 10′ from the end. However, a feline reflex from De Gea on the new substitute Sanabria is needed to avoid worse problems 4′ later. Kean is also in at the end and it is the Italian attacker who, on Solomon’s cross, takes advantage of an error from Audero on the way out, then Fortini’s header and the guest’s collective sleep, to put it in. In the end the Viola fans can celebrate.

A blow to Torino’s Bentegodi who scores his second consecutive away win. Former Marco Baroni’s boys beat Verona 3-0 in the match valid for the eighteenth day of the 2025/2026 Serie A championship: the goals of Giovanni Simeone (another former player who doesn’t celebrate out of respect), Cesare Casadei and Alieu Njie decide the goals. For Zanetti’s Hellas, a heavy knockout for a ranking that is becoming more and more complicated, as indicated by the last place in the company of Fiorentina and Pisa. After a few seconds Adams immediately attempts a shot from outside, but misses the target. In the 10th minute the home team created a mess with Bernede who missed the back pass to Nelsson, favoring the introduction of Simeone: the Argentine flew towards the goal on his own and hit Montipò on the way out, making it 1-0. Verona tries to react with an interesting initiative from Giovane, which however is blocked by the opponent’s rearguard. Around the 20th minute, Torino came close to doubling their lead in two situations: first with Lazaro and then with Vlasic, but both found providential opposition from Montipò. Torino continues to play the game and tries to ride the positive moment to increase their advantage but the yellow-blues, despite being put on the ropes, manage to limit the damage.

In the 37th minute Giovane tries to lead the Scala counterattack by flying into the right lane, but is stopped by a precise intervention from Coco. At the end of the 3′ of added time the two teams went to rest with a score of 1-0. In the second half Hellas returned to the field with a better attitude and managed to put their rivals’ defense into trouble. In the 60th minute the Venetians protested for an alleged handball in the penalty area, but the match director didn’t see any irregularities. Giovane carries his team on his shoulders and in the 68th minute lets loose a very insidious cross for Mosquera, who however doesn’t reach the ball due to a matter of centimetres. Paolo Zanetti’s men invested all their remaining energy in hunting for an equaliser, becoming dangerous in the 81st minute with a shot from Orban blocked by Paleari. In the end, the home team’s efforts didn’t pay off, as the Granata definitively closed the game on the counterattack with two players who had just come on: in the 87th minute Cesare Casadei scored on an assist from Njie who, unsatisfied, in the 91st minute set the score at 3-0 by capitalizing on a long throw from Ismajli. By virtue of this success, Torino rises to 23 points in the standings and joins Sassuolo, while Verona remains last at 12 together with Pisa and Fiorentina.
