KiteSurfista in difficulty and sailing boat in Panne: double intervention by the Coast Guard in Crotone

Two rescue operations were conducted yesterday by the Port Authority – Coast Guard of Crotoneengaged in an intense day of rescue at sea that involved a kitesurfist in difficulty and a sailing boat with a failure engine.

Rescue to a Kitesurfist in Punta Alice
The first alarm was launched through the emergency number 112: in the waters in front of the Punta Alice in Cirò Marina, a kitesurfing sails had been spotted and its conductor in evident difficulty. The patrol boat Sar Cp 321 immediately went to the site to start the research and, shortly after, managed to identify and rescue the man at sea.

A few minutes later, the Coast Guard Operations Room received a second request for intervention via Canale Radio VHF 16. To launch the SOS was a sailing boat charming Italian flag, remaining with a failure engine in the waters between the offshore platforms “Luna 1” and “Luna 2”. The fast boat GC B 145 was sent to the scene, which provided assistance to the boat with two people on board, accompanying it to the old port of Crotone in safety conditions.

At the end of the interventions, the Coast Guard of Crotone renewed the invitation to all the boaters, especially in view of the imminent summer season, to check the weather conditions and to check the safety equipment before taking off, to prevent dangerous situations while navigating.
