Wizz Air, the airline chosen by over 20 million passengers in Italy, and SACAL, the management company of Lamezia Terme International Airport, have announced the activation of a new direct route between Lamezia Terme and Warsaw, further strengthening the carrier’s presence in Calabria.

The connection will be operated with the Airbus A321neo, a latest generation aircraft known for comfort, low noise and reduced emissions compared to the previous generation. Flights will be operated three times a week, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with fares starting from 35.99 euros. Tickets are already available on wizzair.com and on the official WIZZ app.

The Wizz Air network is growing from Lamezia Terme

With the launch of the flight to Warsaw, Wizz Air’s development plan in Calabria is enriched with a new destination in addition to the four connections already active or planned from the Lamezia airport:

Lamezia Terme – Sofia: two weekly flights (Tuesday and Saturday), first flight on 31 March 2026, fares from 19.99 euros

Lamezia Terme – Katowice: three weekly flights (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), from 31 March 2026, fares from 24.99 euros

Lamezia Terme – Bratislava: two weekly flights (Monday and Friday), operational from 14 November, fares from 19.99 euros

Lamezia Terme – Budapest: three weekly flights (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), from 30 April 2026, fares from 29.99 euros

Tourism and mobility: new opportunities for Calabria

The new connection with Warsaw represents an important opportunity to strengthen incoming tourism in Calabria, encouraging the arrival of visitors from central-eastern Europe. At the same time, the route expands travel possibilities for Calabrian residents, offering direct connections at competitive rates to capitals and strategic cities in Eastern Europe.

The Wizz Air network from Lamezia Terme today includes destinations in Bulgaria, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary, contributing to the growing integration of the Calabrian airport into the main European circuits.

Warsaw, the “Phoenix City”

Capital of Poland, Warsaw is known as the “Phoenix City” for its rebirth after the devastation of the Second World War. Today it fascinates visitors with a perfect balance between history and modernity: from the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town to the Royal Castle, up to the suggestive Łazienki Park with the famous Palace on the Island. The gastronomic experience is also unmissable, including typical dishes such as pierogi, bigos and the traditional sernik.

Wizz Air: “Lamezia Terme strategic hub for our growth”

«We are extremely satisfied with this new step forward in our expansion in Lamezia Terme», declared Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communications Manager of Wizz Air.
«The route to Warsaw joins the connections already announced for Bratislava, Sofia, Katowice and Budapest, confirming our ambitious growth project in Calabria. Italy is our main market and, thanks to an investment of 14 billion euros, we continue to improve the travel experience with affordable fares and high quality standards. Lamezia Terme is a strategic port in which we intend to continue investing. Let’s WIZZ Calabria once again!

SACAL: “A connection that strengthens the strategic role of the airport”

«With the launch of the Lamezia Terme–Warsaw connection, Wizz Air increases the operating routes at our airport to five», commented Marco Franchini, Sole Director of SACAL.
«This new connection consolidates a structured growth path, strengthening the role of Lamezia Terme Airport as a strategic infrastructure integrated into European networks, capable of attracting new tourist flows, supporting the local economy and enhancing the potential of the Calabrian territory».

For the 2025 winter season, Wizz Air consolidates its leadership in Italy with 245 active routes and a 14% increase in capacity on a national basis. With a forecast of over 20 million passengers transported in 2025, Italy confirms itself as the carrier’s main market, with growing attention towards Southern Italy and, in particular, towards Lamezia Terme Airport, considered a strategic base with high development potential.
