The investigating judge of Lamezia Terme Maria Giulia Agosti has sent Francesco Di Cello to trial, the 64-year-old who, on May 2nd, killed his 30-year-old son Bruno. The man was recognized as semi-ill during the evidentiary incident. The defenders of the accused, the lawyers Giuseppe Spinelli and Renzo Andricciola, raised a question of constitutionality with the judge regarding the legislative provision inserted with the Cartabia Law, which does not provide for the possibility of accessing the abbreviated procedure in the case of crimes punishable by life imprisonment. The investigating judge rejected the question and ordered Di Cello to be sent to trial.

The trial will begin on February 3 before the Court of Assizes of Catanzaro. The murder, committed in the Marinella area of Lamezia Terme, occurred, according to what the accused reported, in a context of continuous family disagreements due to the son’s repeated requests for money, reported in the past by his parents and convicted of extortion.
