Great public participation in Mendicino for the project “Parallel lives, knowledge, flavors and wisdom of the heart – Elderly and Young”, which animated the Hall of Villa della Serenità. Promoted by the Rotary Club Mendicino Serre Cosentine with the support of governor Dino De Marco and the collaboration of Rotaract and Interact, the event intertwined the memory and wisdom of the elderly with the energy and creativity of young people, transforming the discussion into a shared story of community and future.
Civil, religious and Rotarian authorities present: the mayor of Mendicino Irma Bucarelli, the councilor Carlo Natoli, the councilor Francesca Pellegrino and the parish priest Don Santino Borrelli. The works were opened by Sabrina Sinicropi, president of the Rotary Club Mendicino Serre Cosentine, followed by Rosanna Labonia, project coordinator. The interventions by Mario De Bonis (University of the Third Age Cosenza), Giovanni Perri (general practitioner) and Serena Federica Miceli (Family School Cosenza) underlined the value of the intergenerational relationship and the need to build bridges of solidarity and knowledge.
The “Elderly vs Younger” project of Rotary District 2102, led by governor Dino De Marco, aims to strengthen intergenerational dialogue as a common thread of continuity between experiences of the past and expectations of the future. The initiative is part of the framework of active aging, with the aim of improving the quality of life of elderly people and “adding life to years and not just years to life”.
The message that emerged is clear: the future is built together, with mutual respect and appreciation.
