Fear in the heart of Lamezia Terme. In via Cilea, a man grabbed a gun and fired at two people, wounding them. According to what was reconstructed by the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit and the Investigation Unit of Lamezia Terme, the perpetrator of the gesture was GF, 53 years old, from Lamezia, arrested in the afternoon on charges of attempted murder and possession of a clandestine weapon.
The man allegedly fired several shots from a Beretta 9mm pistol with an abraded serial number against two men of the Roma ethnic group, hitting them in the leg and back respectively. The victims were rescued and urgently transported to the “John Paul II” hospital, where they are hospitalized: their conditions are serious but not life-threatening.
At the site of the ambush, the soldiers of the Scientific Investigations Section of the Catanzaro Operations Department carried out accurate surveys, recovering nine shell casings and a bullet. The weapon used was seized and will be subjected to ballistic analysis to verify whether it was used in other criminal episodes.
Hunted by the Carabinieri, GF finally decided to surrender spontaneously at the Carabinieri Station in Lamezia Terme Sambiase. On the orders of the Lametina Public Prosecutor’s Office, the man was placed under house arrest pending further investigations.
