Since late afternoon today, 25 July, the firefighters of the Vibo Valentia Command have been busy extinguishing a large fire that developed between the Santa Maria di Ricadi hamlet and the Joppolo area.
The intervention, particularly complex due to the extension of the fire, involved three teams of the Fire Brigade, a support tanker and the DOS (Director of Fire Extinguishing Operations). Overall, 19 men operate with 8 vehicles, supported by a team from Calabria Verde.
To allow the firefighting operations to be carried out safely, railway traffic on the Eccellente–Rosarno line was interrupted. The firefighting activities are still ongoing.
