The City Council returned to its natural location, the “Piero Battaglia” Chamber of Palazzo San Giorgio, after the inaugural session at the “Ciccio Franco” Arena dello Stretto. He did so by observing a minute’s silence in memory of all the victims of the mafia, the day after the anniversary of the massacre in Via d’Amelio, in Palermo, where the deputy prosecutor Paolo Borsellino and the agents of his escort died.
The points on the agenda of the session are important for which, with the exception of the first point, concerning a new extension, until December 31st, of the service contract with the in-house company “Castore”, which expired today, the opposition asked for a postponement, without obtaining it, due to the delays with which it received the resolutions and documents under discussion. «Points – noted Marcantonino Malara (Pd) and Demetrio Delfino (Avs) – that we have not had time to examine, and for others the lack of availability to access the documents». In the preliminary interventions, several councilors welcomed the new administrative phase of the city with confidence, and from the opposition the observation of a further postponement of the illustration of the programmatic lines by the mayor. «I reserve the right to do them in a short time – replied Francesco Cannizzaro -. I myself asked President Federico Milia to give priority to the points on today’s agenda to give a signal, to assume an act of responsibility towards “Castore”, to strengthen, enhance and make this company efficient”.
