The “Literary Encounters” exhibition, hosted from 25 to 27 March in the suggestive former Church of San Giovanni, in the heart of the historic center of Castrolibero, has concluded. The initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Castrolibero – as part of the project “Who’s on stage – Impressions of September” – curated by Corriere della Calabria, offered three days of intense cultural comparison, putting books, ideas and current affairs at the centre, with authoritative protagonists of the Italian journalistic and political scene.
«Castrolibero is a place open to dialogue and discussion», declared the municipal councilor for culture Nicoletta Perrotti. «This initiative demonstrates how fundamental it was to offer the public moments of reflection capable of combining information, history and literature», claims the councilor. «The public – concludes Perrotti – responded with enthusiasm, confirming the importance of events capable of stimulating debate and in-depth analysis on the major issues of society».
Four books, four authors
The “Literary Encounters” exhibition hosted authoritative authors, capable of intertwining journalistic rigor, historical investigation and narrative sensitivity.
Claudio Petruccioli presented for the first time to the public “True spies & false cards”, an analysis of the false document from the 1980s which denounced alleged negotiations between the Christian Democrats, the Camorra, the state apparatus and Red Brigade terrorism for the release of the councilor Ciro Cirillo, in dialogue with Paride Leporace, editorialist for the Corriere della Calabria.
Attilio Sabato explored, in his novel “Cella 121”, the dynamics of power, intrigue and fragility of political identity, in conversation with Arcangelo Badolati.
Davide Giacalone, with “FuturiBile”, offered a lucid reflection on the contradictions of contemporary Western societies, between populism, polarization and the urgency of recovering a culture of responsibility. In conversation with Paola Militano, director of the Corriere della Calabria, the author explored the great issues of contemporary life: from Italian politics – with a reference to the latest referendum on justice – to international conflicts, particularly in the Middle East and Ukraine, up to the energy crisis and the increasingly delicate role of information.
To close the event, on March 27, Giancarla Rondinelli with “L’Imprint” addressed the delicate issue of justice and citizen trust, underlining how emblematic cases can become an opportunity to reflect on the need for justice that is not only effective, but also credible and understandable. On the other hand, the author underlines, «the Garlasco case is not just a judicial fact. It has become something that concerns everyone, the sign that justice is a living process, but also a complex one.” The event recorded a significant public presence, confirming the strong interest in moments of cultural in-depth analysis. The choice of the former Church of San Giovanni proved to be a winning one, enhancing a symbolic space for the community, a place for meeting and reflection.
