If Russian President Vladimir Putin decides to attend the G20 summit next year in Rio de Janeiro, he will not be arrested. Brazilian President Ignacio Lula said on the sidelines of the Delhi summit.
Lula, interviewed by the Indian network Firstpost, said that Putin will be invited to next year’s event which will be hosted by Brazil. “We enjoy the peace and we like to treat people well. So I think Putin can go to Brazil easily,” he said. “If I am the president of Brazil and if he comes to Brazil, there is no possibility that he will be arrested,” he added. Brazil is a member of the International Criminal Court which issued an arrest warrant for the Russian president last year on charges of illegal deportation of Ukrainian children. (AGI)
