The death toll from a train derailment in southern Pakistan rises to 34 dead and over 100 injured. Several carriages of the Hazara Express – which was traveling with more than 1,000 people on board – overturned near the Sahara railway station in Nawabshah, about 275 km from the largest city of Karachi in the southern province of Sindh. The train connects the port megacity of Karachi to Havelian, located 1,600 kilometers further north in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The wounded have been transferred to nearby hospitals, while rescue teams are still trying to free those trapped in the wreckage.
