The Carabinieri of Florence have acquired and are examining a video of the Lanciotto-Castelfiorentino match on 14 April in which the guest player Mattia Giani felt ill and then died in hospital the next day. The video, explains La Nazione, is available because it was filmed by an operator appointed by another club in the same championship, Excellence category, to 'study' the possible opponents in the relegation play outs.
The video includes the entire match played up until the moment of the illness, approximately 14 minutes, and also shows the last action of the game, by Mattia Giani, who was playing as a striker, as he runs towards the opponent's goal, that of Lanciotto, and kick.
Then the 26-year-old falls to the ground, so it's time for help and also for the use of the defibrillator. The images are being examined by the police and, from what emerges, they would constitute a useful document for the manslaughter investigation which was opened by the Florence prosecutor's office to shed light on the death of the young footballer. At the moment they are not under investigation.
