Maxi kidnapping this morning in Ganzirri by the Port Authority of Messina, in collaboration with the municipal police force, as part of an operation aimed at combating unauthorism on the maritime state property.

The intervention targeted the illegitimate occupations of the free beach, often caused by bathers who, in violation of the standards, leave umbrellas, chairs and deck chairs on the beach even during the night to “book the place” for the next day. A practice that hinders the free use of public spaces and constitutes in all respects an abuse.

During the operation, approximately were seized 150 umbrellas and 500 between chairs and deck chairsfor a total weight of about 15 quintals. Eight of the stations had been firmly anchored to the ground, but it was not possible to trace the managers. The material, if not claimed in the next few days, will be disposed of thanks to the operational support provided by Messina Servicespresent throughout the operation.

The Coast Guard announced that it will continue with one control and repression campaign of the offenses related to the illegal occupation of the maritime state property, recalling the attention of citizens on respect for the public good and on the importance of a correct and shared use of the beaches.
