Vast operation by the Carabinieri of the Messina Centro and Messina Sud Companies, together with the Radiomobile Unit, as part of an extraordinary territorial control service aimed at combating drug dealing and trafficking, with particular attention to the most degraded areas of the city.

The activity, which involved several neighborhoods of the Peloritan capital, ended with two arrests and the seizure of three illegal pistols and a significant quantity of drugs.

In detail, in the Camaro district, the military stopped a car driven by a 25-year-old, who, showing evident nervousness, was subjected to a search. Inside the vehicle the Carabinieri found over two kilograms of cocaine, divided into three packages, and 480 euros in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug dealing. At the same time, in the Mangialupi neighbourhood, another Carabinieri team carried out an initiative search in the home of a 53-year-old, finding three semi-automatic pistols with abraded serial number, around 200 cartridges of various calibers, 350 grams of marijuana, 340 grams of cocaine and material for cutting and packaging drugs.

The 25-year-old and the 53-year-old were arrested, respectively, for possession for the purpose of dealing drugs and, in the case of the second, also for possession of illegal weapons.

The seized weapons and drugs will be sent to the Messina RIS carabinieri for ballistic and laboratory analysis, aimed at verifying any links with other criminal episodes.

The operation is part of the broader plan to intensify controls on the territory established by the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Messina to combat drug trafficking and the spread of illegal weapons in the city.
