Many people from Messina were present this evening in Piazza Castronovo for the traditional mass under the Cippo, a prelude to the solemnity of the Assumption which will culminate tomorrow at 6:30 pm with the procession of the Vara.

Archbishop Giovanni Accolla presided over the solemn mass, in the presence of Mayor Federico Basile with his council, civil and military authorities with the commander of the Municipal and Metropolitan Police Giovanni Giardina, members of the Vara e Giganti historical group and a representation of the brotherhoods. An important moment in the civil and religious tradition of Messina, of particular joy the feast of August 15, as the archbishop recalled in his homily recalling “the sense of the journey with Mary between the ropes, an extension of the hearts, as a predisposition to listen to the needs of brothers and sisters in need”.
