Messina prepares to recall the “Vinci Cup”, which Sunday 4th May He will celebrate the penny anniversary of the first automotive competition held in the city. The event, organized by the ACAIS with the patronage of the Municipality, will start at 11 am from Piazza Duomo.
The “Vinci Cup” was one of the first road races of Southern Italy And he saw the participation of motoring legends such as Tazio Nuvolari, Achille Varzi, Alfieri Maserati and Borzacchini. The centenary edition will see rare and fascinating vintage cars parade, including the French Amilcar CGSS and the British Austin Seven Sport and Riley Sport. The descendants of Baron Amedeo Sillitti, Pioniere Agrigento who run five editions of the Vinci Cup on Alfa Romeo Rl SS, will go up to the latter.
The day will end with a celebratory symposium at the theater of the Antonian Institute “Cristo Re”where enthusiasts and historians will retrace the stages of a race that marked the beginning of motorism in Messina, like events such as the Targa Florio and the Giro di Sicilia.
