The move sounds like a provocation, and to a large extent it is. But it could also hide subliminal messages, referring to a certain ferment among those who, even today, despite having decided to run for the next local elections in Messina, have not yet completely resolved their reservations about “where” to run, with doubts that concern both the list and even the coalition in which to place themselves. Dynamics that are no longer surprising, in times in which jackets are worth less than the calculation of the probability of being elected or not. De Luca, aware of having plenty of space in the lists that will support Federico Basile’s candidacy (there is even talk of fifteen symbols already ready), thus plays to shuffle the cards in other people’s houses. He invites the Centre-Left to resolve its last doubts, but above all launches an appeal to the councilors and eligible candidates of the Centre-Right: “They have used you. But do you want to get out of this scheme? Do you want to blow up this bench? True autonomy, true civility, the true strength of the territory is precisely this: blowing up the bench of these systems where the seats in the rooms of Rome and Palermo are divided on the votes that the candidates for the city council bring to the parties”.
