Messina, driving with a cell phone: 55 licenses withdrawn

The Messina Traffic Police takes stock of the European campaign “Focus on the road”, which is part of the broader project “Roadpol European Operation”, an initiative which aims to reduce the number of road accidents. During the operation, various activities were carried out, of an informative but also control nature, to raise awareness among road users and combat the most dangerous behaviors such as improper use of mobile phones while driving, speeding, failure to use seat belts. Specifically, following the numerous checkpoints carried out, the safety conditions of 266 vehicles were verified, detecting 201 violations of the highway code. 55 licenses were withdrawn from users who used smartphones while driving, while 34 infringements were contested for failure to use seat belts. In total 552 points were deducted.
