Moments of apprehension a Messina where this morning a fire in a house near the Shrine of Christ the King (more precisely within the Fondo Basicò complex which borders the ring road on one side and the Pala Tracuzzi on the other). An elderly woman was injured, with burns in several places, and was transported to hospital by a 118 ambulance. The woman, however, was alert on the stretcher.

From what we understand, the fire was presumably caused by a fault in the boiler and the curtain outside the wooden window burned. The woman was alone at home. The neighbors immediately raised the alarm at the sight of the smoke.

The firefighters were on site and promptly put out the flames and made the building safe, which has part of the wooden roof. Therefore we can speak of a danger averted as the flames could have spread to other homes.
