This year too, the 51 stations of the “Messina Street Food Fest” will compete for the title of “street fooder” most loved by the public, a recognition that in 2024 went to the Neapolitan Sfogliatelle. A greedy game that sparks curiosity and stimulates the palate.
Flavors and cultures
The 2025 edition is inspired by the theme of travel, understood as a multisensory experience and metaphor of discovery. “Taste destination – Leave with us” is the slogan that accompanies the event, inviting you to be guided by aromas and flavors that describe different territories.
Fried tradition and more
Impossible to resist the timeless classics: the “black gold” arancini, those with ragù, pecorino romano or ‘nduja, and the Messina pythons in the traditional version or with speck and potatoes. Then the fried and “wallet” pizza, the crunchy pata-twister loved by children, together with the corn dogs, the American batatas, the fried tuma, the croquettes and the cunzatu bread.
Signature sandwiches and gourmet grills
The section dedicated to meat is a triumph of stuffed sandwiches and irresistible aromas: bombette from Puglia, kebabs from Abruzzo, chops from Messina and sandwiches with sausage or porchetta from Nebrodi black pigs. There is no shortage of “grandma’s” meatballs, “crocco pig” sausages, the black angus burrito, the chicken burger and the “smash burger”, among the current fashions. Alongside these, the “Soft Sicilian” sandwiches with sausage and caramelized onion, “Fancy meatballs” with artisanal meatballs, the puccia with mortadella and the original “Ufo Picanha” with meatballs, hashbrowns and chimichurri mayonnaise. Among the new features, the “Skibidi Boppi” hamburger, the pulled pork and the “La clave degli Antenati” proposal.
The sea in street food
There is no shortage of flavors of the sea, with sandwiches and cuoppi that pay homage to the Messina tradition. They range from “Principe dello Strait” swordfish chops to prawn chops, up to the sandwich with grilled octopus or fried squid. Among the most original proposals, the swordfish wrap with bergamot, the cuttlefish black burger, the fish smash burger and the “Signor Papalino” sandwich, stuffed with stockfish.
Sicily, Italy and the world
A gastronomic journey that starts from Palermo with bread, panelle and crocchè, pani ca’ meusa and sfincione bianco, passes through Rome with mezze sleeves carbonara, and reaches Mexico with tacos.
Sweet ending
Nutella and Dubai chocolate crepes, churros, classic ice cream and decomposed cannoli ice cream are available.
