The commitment of the Metropolitan City of Messina continues unabated, having intervened promptly to deal with the consequences of the bad weather which, on the night between 15 and 16 October, hit the Ionian side of the province, causing landslides and falling debris along various provincial arteries. The operational teams of the Road Service immediately started a series of urgent works to guarantee the safety and full practicability of the roads.
On the SP 12 “S. Alessio – Scifì – Limina” interventions were carried out to clear the landslide material, which had partially blocked the roadway in several places. At the same time, the damaged guardrails were also replaced on the same stretch, restoring safety conditions along the important hilly connection.
Along the SP 19 “S. Teresa – Savoca”, the operators of the Metropolitan City have completed the cleaning and removal operations of the landslide material, restoring full usability to the route and improving the flow of rainwater. The SP 16, in the Forza D’Agrò area, has also been affected by interventions to replace the protective barriers (guardrails), guaranteeing greater safety for drivers who travel the road every day.
“Once again our technicians and road workers have demonstrated professionalism and promptness, intervening immediately after the weather events that affected the area” – declared the Metropolitan Mayor Federico Basile. “Road safety remains an absolute priority: we constantly work to keep our roads clean, safe and fully usable, even in the presence of sudden emergencies”.
Satisfaction also on the part of the General Director Giuseppe Campagna, who highlighted the efficiency of the metropolitan organizational machine: “We immediately activated the operational teams to monitor and secure the sections affected by the landslides. The timeliness of the interventions and the coordination between our offices made it possible to reduce the inconvenience for citizens to a minimum. We will continue to work steadily for safer and more modern roads”. The interventions of these days are part of the broader ordinary and extraordinary maintenance program carried out by the Metropolitan City of Messina, which confirms the concrete commitment to the protection of the territory and the safety of those who travel along the provincial roads every day.
