Once again on the banks of the Strait to relive the emotions of the past. The three days of Franco Scoglio’s “bastards” opened yesterday evening with the arrival in the city of the former biancoscudati and dinner at the Corte dei Mari, a well-known venue on the northern coast on the sidelines of a long special hosted by Salvatore De Maria which will be broadcast on Rtp in the next few days.
Responding to the “reunion” were Enzo Di Palma, Carmelo Mancuso, Romolo Rossi, Antonio Bellopede, Enrico Venditelli and Peppe Catalano. Six undisputed protagonists of one of the most beautiful and successful periods of Giallorossi football. Hugs, teary eyes and many memories for a group of footballers who marked a golden era: Franco Scoglio’s Messina started from C1 and in just three years came close to making the sensational leap to Serie A.

The nostalgia operation is organized by the Messina entrepreneur Niki Patti – who in the mid-eighties with his “Italvest” was the shirt sponsor of the ACR – with the collaboration of some commercial operators in the city who made the initiative possible.
Today was the key day of the “reunion”: the former Messina players, in the Giallorossi between 1984-1987 and protagonists of the promotion to Serie B, were received at Palazzo Zanca by the mayor Federico Basile. Therefore, at the express wish of the former Biancoscudati themselves, the visit to the renovated “Giovanni Celeste” to return to reliving a place that gave them – and thousands of Messina residents – memorable joys. Enrico Massimino, son of President Turi, and Franco Polizzo, Scoglio’s historic deputy, will also be present at the event.
Tomorrow, however, a visit to the central cemetery is scheduled to see the tombs of three great Messina players, great protagonists of the Giallorossi’s golden period: Ciccio Currò, Filippo Ricciardi and Mino Licordari.
