The restoration project of the “House of Wonders of the Knight Giovanni Cammarata” in Maregrosso, also known as the “House of the Puppet”, has obtained the green light for regional funding. With a contribution of 100,000 euros, approved thanks to an amendment by the Hon. Antonio De Luca (M5S) and included in the agreement signed by the mayor Federico Basile, the rehabilitation works of the artistic artifact will soon begin. The intervention, drawn up by the architect Carmelo Celona, will focus on the restoration of the works of art and the multimedia musealization of the entire artistic experience of Cavaliere Giovanni Cammarata (1914-2002).

Former bricklayer, Cammarata transformed his house in Maregrosso into a work of art starting in the 1970seven without formal artistic training. The project also includes securing two rooms that will house a small multimedia museum. The work will be divided into two phases: the first, funded in 2024, concerns the restoration of the works and the creation of the virtual museum; the second involves the construction of a protective cover to preserve the works from the elements. Once completed, the work will return to the community an important cultural and tourist attraction in the III Municipality of Messina.
