The last act was performed. The sentence became definitive. And while the two civil lawyers spoke, yesterday morning, a strange case at that moment, two pigeons entered fluttering in the austere classroom of the Court of Cassation and they blocked themselves on the marble floor, remaining immobile for several minutes, facing the judges. Shortly before they approached the victim’s sister, Silvia, also a lawyer.

The woman who with her stubbornness and courage, and with the complaint filed in the summer of 2017, has carried out in recent years a battle that everyone, told her, will inevitably be lost. They all interpreted it as a sign of fate, while in a hurry from the Roman classroom to wait for the sentence. Who arrived in the early afternoon yesterday, after a couple of hours in the council chamber.

And the decision is clear. The sentence of condemnation for “The Untore” since yesterday has become definitive. The first criminal section of the Court of Cassation, the third degree of judgment, in fact rejected the appeal of 60 -year -old Luigi De Domenico, held responsible for the crime of voluntary murder of the then partner, the 45 -year -old lawyer, who died in July 2017 after atrocious suffering, diagnosis and wrong treatments. The deputy attorney general had also asked for the rejection of the appeal.

On March 19, in the new appeal process, after the cancellation of the first for the affair of the age of popular judges over 65, the man, who was assisted by the lawyer Tommaso Varrone, was sentenced to 22 years of imprisonment. A penalty that will now have to serve. Also for the second instance judges the reasoning that led to the sentence was the same as the first “canceled” trial: although De Domenico knew he was suffering from AIDS, he never told the woman of his HIV positive, making them contract the disease that has subsequently proved fatal, even for the wrong treatments.

And yesterday, hot, after the sentence, the lawyers Bonni Candido and Elena Montalbano, who in recent years have represented family members in the processes as a civil party, have told us: «We are only the defenders of the offended people and the memory of our colleague Stefania Gambadoro and his young son. As such we can only manifest professional satisfaction, today we had predicted him 7 years ago, who can never be transformed into feelings of joy and revenge for the condemnation of a man who will now see the gallery doors for many and many years.

This epilogue is the end of a poignant ordeal that leaves only and only victims on the field. We hope that Stefania Gambadoro can now rest in peace and her loved ones, her son, sister and parents, resume a more peaceful life path ».
