A disgrace, yet another for Messina. What else must happen to put an end to this very sad period of Italian football and a club that once again shows that it is incapable of managing a professional club? The latest episode comes from the youth sector. Eight on the pitch until the 10th minute of the second half, when the “face-saving script” took over: injury, team off the pitch and everyone home. Messina’s National Youthsyesterday at their debut in Santa Lucia del Mela, lost due to “insufficient numbers” to face the match. In any case, after about 60 minutes of play, Crotone, the opponent on duty, was winning 10-0. A humiliation. An embarrassing situation, necessary for the club to honor the commitment, avoiding losing the benefits linked to some federal bonuses, but not to save face. It is the result of a youth team managed, for the umpteenth season, by improvising. Doing because it has to be done, without any planning, design, I believe, purpose. What a humiliation for Messina and what a humiliation for those boys forced to take to the field. It went better on the field for the Allievi representative, who drew 1-1. The competitiveness is greater, perhaps not to compete for the upper quarters but perhaps to avoid “shipwrecks”. On the organizational level more than something needs to be reviewed, just think that in the event of an injury, from the bench to provide first aid comes in… a teammate. We are still talking about a national series and as such it should be managed.
