A short circuit occurred in the basement of Pavilion C of the Messina Polyclinic in the past few hours. By 9.15am the situation had already been restored. No flames or smoke developed, just a slightly strong smell. As a precaution, one patient had been moved to Emergency Medicine and all the others present in the Emergency Room (14 in total) had been transferred to the Short Intensive Observation area (OBI), space available in this new complex after the transfer implemented in recent months from the old premises.
All safety procedures applied in these cases have been implemented and have worked. The technicians have already restored the system and the emergency room has resumed full functionality. No consequences for patients and operators.
