Messina, when it rains the flooding continues to torment via Don Blasco and via Santa Marta. Flooding from rain did not spare two strategic arteries of Messina this time either, via Don Blasco and via Santa Marta. With residents and motorists who, with the intense rain in the afternoon, had to deal with numerous inconveniences and the feeling that the solutions promised by the Municipality remain on paper.
Via Don Blasco: a “pool” for every storm
Via Don Blasco has long been the scene of flooding whenever rainfall exceeds a certain intensity. Manholes are often overwhelmed by water, which escapes and spills onto the roadway and sidewalks. The result is always the same: broken down cars, garages and basements invaded by water, and a flow that transforms the street into what some residents define as a real “swimming pool”.
Via Santa Marta: disruptions and dangers during bad weather
Even via Santa Marta is not immune to the effects of bad weather. During the afternoon rains the road flooded again, causing problems for both residents and passing vehicles. To make the situation worse, the unstable conditions of the roadway: potholes, dangerous slopes and damaged asphalt make transit even more risky.
The city councilors have long reported the urgency of an intervention to make the section under the Novitiate bridge safe, complaining that the poor road surface represents a real danger, in particular for light vehicles and two-wheeled vehicles.
