Mezzatesta murder in Catanzaro, appeal rejected: life sentence confirmed for Marco Gallo

The first criminal section of the Court of Cassation has the appeal presented for Marco Gallo, aged 38, was rejected without postponementconfirming his life sentence for themurder of Calabria Railways employee Gregorio Mezzatestawhich occurred in Catanzaro on 24 June 2017.
Mezzatesta was killed with a gunshot to the head while he was in a car with a colleague. The murderer, defended by the lawyer Francesco Siclari, was also sentenced to compensate the victim’s wife and daughters, who were civil parties in the trial and represented by the lawyer Enzo Galeota.
This is the second life prison sentence handed down to Gallo, who was allegedly a paid killer. The thirty-eight year old suffered the same sentence, in fact, for the murder of the greengrocer Francesco Berlingieri, aged 57, which occurred in Lamezia Terme in 2017.
Gallo was also sentenced to life imprisonment by the Court of Assizes of Catanzaro for the murder of the lawyer Francesco Pagliuso, 43 years old, killed in Lamezia Terme on the evening of 9 August 2016. For this last murder which would have been carried out The appeal process is underway at Gallo.
