Moments of apprehension this morning in the Strait for a German tourist whose traces had been lost after boarding with his wife on the Caronte & Tourist ferry at Villa San Giovanni. The woman, no longer seeing him on board, raised the alarm fearing he had fallen into the sea. The searches began immediately: three Coast Guard lookouts searched the area, supported by a helicopter that took off from Catania, while the police searched the area on land. The man, however, had never left: he had gotten off the ferry before departure to smoke a cigarette, leaving his cell phone and wallet on board, without notifying his wife.
Found shortly afterwards by the police, he was reassured and accompanied to the port. The story thus ended with a happy ending: time to reach Messina and the couple will be able to continue their holiday.
