Announced during the mayor’s mid-term press conference Nicola Fioritathe municipal council has approved in recent days the memorandum of understanding between Palazzo De Nobili, the “Magna Graecia” University and the Fondazione con il Sud concerning the definition of the management strategies of the San Giovanni monumental complex for the next 12 years through the involvement of third sector bodies.

In the vision of the municipal administration, the action wants to mark a decisive change of pace with the more recent past, abandoning the precariousness dictated by the limited possibility of municipal budgets compared to the necessary savings to be invested in the management, maintenance and valorisation of the unique municipal museum container. Thanks to the agreement with the Fondazione con il Sud, in fact, a tender will be published for the entrusting of the management of the property to a private entity: following the evaluation and selection of the project proposals for the valorisation of the property which will arrive for the via the Chàiros platform, will be the recipient of a non-repayable loan of up to 500 thousand euros from the Foundation itself.

Furthermore, it will actively contribute to the evaluation of project proposals, provide support in promotion and communication activities, and carry out technical and financial monitoring activities.
Participation in the public-private contractual partnership may include the obligation on the part of the third sector body holding the partnership contract to pay a portion, previously determined in the co-design phase, of the revenues deriving from the use of the site, as well as a fee for the use of the spaces.
