At the U-Power Stadium Monza and Lazio didn't go beyond a 2-2 draw. The Biancoceleste team took the lead twice with Immobile and Vecino, but Djuric's brace nullified the efforts of Tudor's team, which rose to 56 points in the standings, three points behind fifth-placed Roma, while Palladino's men took the lead 45. The first scoring opportunity belongs to the red and whites, who in the 4th minute break through centrally with Zerbin and Djuric: the center forward goes away to Patric and crosses, but the ball grazes the post. However, in the 11th minute it was Lazio who broke the deadlock. Kamada shoots powerfully from the edge of the area, Di Gregorio deflects onto the crossbar and the ball falls into the Immobile area who doesn't miss the tap in. Valentin Carboni, on the other hand, was more imprecise in front of goal and in the 22nd minute with a header with a sure shot wasted the ball to make it 1-1. An alarm signal for Tudor, who in the 32nd minute chose to recall Zaccagni to the bench, already booked and responsible for a few too many interventions in the opinion of the Croatian coach. In his place there is room for Casale, with Hysaj moving to guard the left lane. In the second half Lazio lowered the pressure, while Monza's intensity increased.
In the 62nd minute Colpani made himself dangerous. The red and white number 28 skips Patric, also avoids Mandas but ends up going too wide: at that point the Lazio goalkeeper does well to recover his position and deflect the cross into a corner. In the 65th minute Tudor plays the cards Castellanos, Vecino and Cataldi, while Palladino responds with Akpa Akpro, Mota and Donati. It is precisely the latter who starts the equalizing action: on his cross from the right, Pessina heads it, Mandas dives past himself but the rebound is deflected by Djuric into the net. For the assistant it is offside, but the VAR validates the goal. In the 83rd minute, however, it was a mistake by Monza that gave Lazio the lead. Donati's back pass is halfway between Akpa Akpro and Di Gregorio, Vecino takes advantage of it and makes it 2-1. However, it was the usual Djuric who gave the home team the draw with his home specialty: in the 93rd minute Pessina crossed into the centre, the former Verona player headed the ball into the net, for a 2-2 which risks put an end to the Biancocelesti's Champions League hopes.
