Gianmarco Tamberi freezes the Italian fans with a post on social media in which he reveals that the renal colic returned last night and that his participation in the competition tonight will be conditioned by his state of health. However, he confirms his participation in the high jump final. Here is what he wrote

It’s all over….
I hoped until the end, I believed in it despite everything that had happened.
I have received such great support and affection from all of you that it has given me a unique strength to get up from this umpteenth problem, but evidently it had to go this way…..
This morning at 5am I woke up with the same excruciating pain I had a few days ago.
Another renal colic.
It’s been 5 hours and the pain still hasn’t gone away. I managed to beat fate once after that injury in 2016, this time unfortunately I think it won.
I’m speechless, I’m truly so sorry.
Will I still go on stage this evening?
Yes, but I really don’t know how I’ll be able to jump in these conditions…?
