The reshuffle is upon us. And rumors about the “toto-aldermen” fill the days at Palazzo dei Bruzi.
Sarino Branda, former director of Confindustria, could represent the surprise move of mayor Franz Caruso, who intends to entrust him with an important sector: production activities. A sector in which Branda would move with agility given the experience gained in more than thirty years of work carried out in the industrialists’ association. «An old friendship ties me to Caruso» states the former director «but no one has yet contacted me. If the mayor calls me we’ll talk about it and see.”
The other positions
Giuseppe Mazzuca, president of the municipal council, could leave the leadership of the municipal assembly and become deputy mayor, in the Democratic Party, in place of Maria Locanto. It will depend on the outcome of the negotiations that the regional secretary of the dem, Nicola Irto, will conduct in the next few days. Given the weakened position of the party’s provincial coordinator, Matteo Lettieri, against whom a motion of no confidence has been presented, Irto will be the one to confront the mayor. Mazzuca, for his part, says: “If the party were to ask me for it, I certainly can’t back out.”
The presidency of the council, in this case, could pass to Bianca Rende, candidate in the latest regional elections with Pasquale Tridico’s centre-left and elected to the town hall with a list placed, in the second round, in the coalition in support of Caruso. In recent months, Rende had on several occasions “differentiated” herself in her choices compared to the majority. The last case concerned the vote on the budget forecast marked by an abstention. «I have not been contacted» says Rende «but I consider it a plausible hypothesis within the framework of a plan that can make sense if it passes through a political discussion table through which to establish a relaunch of administrative action with well-identified priorities to be considered in the interests of citizens».
The movement led by Francesco De Cicco, who will leave his councilor position, will instead be integrated by Gianluca Orrico, accountant, who will be entrusted with the responsibility for the budget (and not only) while Pasquale Svenire will remain in his place. The Five Star Movement will remain in the executive with only one representative, Veronica Buffone, because Massimiliano Battaglia should not be reconfirmed.
«If they are roses they will bloom» says an old brocard.
