The “Nations Award 2024”, Nations Film Awardunder the high patronage of the European Parliament and the Sicilian Region, the patronage of the Agrigento Valley of the Temples Park and the Messina Tourism Bureau, has successfully renewed the connection between Taormina and Venicecelebrating the theme of Beauty in all its forms and languages.
The event, organized by Michel Curatoloconcluded its Venetian edition on September 5th, in the elegant halls of the Hotel Ca’ Sagredo, coinciding with the closing of the Venice Film Festival.
After the success of the annual event held in Taormina, in the enchanting setting of the “Pearl of the Ionian Sea”, the event brought a taste of Sicily to the Lagoonwith the aim of promoting Italian cultural and artistic heritage at an international level.
For Michele Curatolo, 2024 represents a special year: recently, in Shanghai, guest of the city government, he received an award for his 25-year career in organizing major cultural events of global importance. A prestigious recognition for someone who for many years has sought, with his work, to enhance the talents and artistic riches of Sicily.
The heart of the evening was the debate on “The Economy of Beauty: Promoting Development Through Cultural Valorization”, moderated by David Scalzottoeditor-in-chief of the Gazzettino, the Veneto daily newspaper. Among the participants, illustrious names such as Simone Venturini, Councillor for Tourism of the Municipality of Venice, Michael Tammadirector of the Ciset of the University of Venice Ca’ Foscari. And Michel Curatolo himself, together with Gaetano Majolinopresident of the Center for the Development of Cultural Tourism in Sicily.
This year’s award winners represented excellence in various artistic and cultural fields: among them the singer Gianmarco Carrocciathe actress Naomi Brandothe mosaicist Emanuel Sarithe actress Sarah Lazarusthe athlete and sports manager Lara Magoniand the film producer Gianluca Curti.
With this eighteenth edition, the “Nations Award” confirms itself as a prestigious event, capable of uniting the best of Culture and Art, from Taormina to Venice, through a common thread that exalts beauty as a driver of economic and cultural development. Held from 19 to 21 July, in Taormina, the event organized by Curatolo has returned to reward the great faces of Cinema. In previous years, the following have passed through here: Murray Abraham, Claudia Cardinale, Gerard Depardieu, Abel Ferrara, Jean Sorel, Nicola Piovani, Ferzan Ozpetek and many others. The peculiarity of this event is that it focuses on environmental protection, involving artists to draw attention to a more “green” and sustainable world. As was reiterated both in Taormina and in the two days in Venice.
