The regional council has given the green light to the draft decree for non-repayable contributions to micro, small and medium-sized businesses to reduce interest on mortgages in existence as of January 1, 2024. The incentive will be managed by Irfis FinSicilia and will become operational in the coming weeks. Before the final signature of the Councilor for the Economy, the decree, shared with the Councilor for Productive Activities, will be submitted to the Budget Committee of the ARS for its opinion. Provided for by the July maneuver of this year, the ceiling for the incentive is equal to 45 million euros. Each beneficiary company will be able to obtain a maximum of 10 thousand euros that will be paid in an amount equal to 30% of the amount of interest relating to the installments expired during 2023 and paid on March 31, 2024. Furthermore, the nominal annual interest rate applied to the last expired installment of financing for which aid is requested cannot be less than 1%. The requests that reach Irfis will be ordered based on a score calculated on the basis of three weights: the nominal rate applied to the last installment expired in 2023, the amount of interest for which the contribution is requested and, finally, the requirement of having a registered office in Sicily. “After the success of the measure on high mortgage costs for the benefit of families – says the President of the Region, Renato Schifani – my government strongly supported the rule, voted by the ARS, in favor of companies. Supporting the productive world is a priority of the executive and for these reasons we have packaged a measure that aims to alleviate the burden of variable rate mortgage interests suffered by Sicilian entrepreneurs”. “In choosing the weights for assigning priority to candidates – explains the Councilor for Economy, Alessandro Dagnino – we decided to give greater importance to companies that have their legal headquarters in Sicily. A choice that we believe is due with respect to those who decide to locate the heart of their business on the Island, thus contributing directly to public finances”. “Also on this occasion Irfis will be ready to intervene alongside the companies and the productive system of the Island, to help implement this measure envisaged in the government maneuver and voted by the ARS”, comments the president of Irfis, Iolanda Riolo.
