They did not favor the inaction of the boss of the ‘ndrangheta of Rizziconi (Rc), Domenico Creacaptured by the State Police on 2 August 2019 in Santa Domenica di Ricadi, in the province of Vibo Valentia. This is the sentence of the district judge of Reggio Calabria, Angela Mennella, in the trial celebrated with an abbreviated procedure which saw the broad acquittal of seven defendants: Luigi Mancuso70 years old, from Limbadi (the prosecutor had asked for 7 years for him, defended by lawyers Paride Scinica and Francesco Calabrese); Pantaleone Di Mundo44 years old, from Limbadi (lawyer Antonio Corsaro); Pasquale Gallone64 years old, from Nicotera Marina (lawyer Giorgio Vianello Accorretti; Salvatore Gallone57 years old, from Caroni (lawyer Salvatore Campisi); Antonio Monterosso44 years old, from Reggio Calabria (lawyer Guido Contestabile); Michele Rottura64 years old, from Rizziconi e Antonino Rottura63 years old, from Rizziconi (lawyer Pasquale Loiacono).
The seven all had to answer for the crime of personal aiding and abetting of a fugitive aggravated by mafia purposes. The accusation was supported by the DDA of Reggio Calabria and hypothesized that the accused were responsible for the cover-up network set up to encourage the fugitive of Domenico Crea, a leading exponent of the Rizziconi clan of the same name. Luigi Mancuso, believed to be the boss of Limbadi and among the main exponents of the entire Calabrian ‘Ndrangheta, is currently detained having been sentenced to 30 years of imprisonment in the first degree in the trial born from the operation of the Catanzaro DDA called Rinascita Scott.
