The DDA of Catanzaro asked the gup 24 indictments for the suspects of the anti -mafia investigation called Habanero against the clans of the Vibonesi Presserre and in particular against the ‘Ndrine dei Maiolo di Acquaro and Emanuele di Gerocarne.

In total, the suspects are 26 (but two positions have been exceeded by the DDA of Catanzaro) and some of them must respond to having taken part in the “massacre of ariola” which on 25 October 2003 in Gerocarne, in the hamlet of Ariola, saw three people fall in the rain of fire – Francesco Gallace, Giovanni Gallace and Stefano Barilaro – while a fourth remained injured.

Among the suspects are the brothers Angelo and Francesco Maiolo41 and 46 years old, considered at the top of the homonymous clan of the ‘Ndrangheta of Acquaro and which are restricted in the hard prison regime by decision of the Ministry of Justice. Among the contested crimes, in various capacities, to the 24 suspects (among them Francesco Capomolla, Giuseppe Taverniti, Cosimo Bertucci and Rinaldo Loielo, all of Gerocarne), also the mafia association, extortion, drug trafficking, robbery, auction disturbance and illegal possession of weapons. The clans would have exercised their power in particular on the municipalities of Acquaro, Dasà, Gerocarne, Soriano Calabro and Sorianello, as well as in the province of Turin.
