The Court of Assizes of Appeal of Catanzaro (president Piero Santese, assistant judge Elvezia Cordasco) has ruled on the procedural section of the «Rinascita Scott» operation which aims to shed light on some bloody facts committed in the Vibono area, as well as on a kidnapping. The life sentence was confirmed for Domenico Bonavota of Sant’Onofrio, believed to have instigated the murders of Alfredo Cracolici and Giovanni Furlano (9 February 2002), while for this crime Antonio Ierullo, 54 years old, of Vallelonga, was acquitted (and immediately released from prison), sentenced to 30 years in the first instance.
From life imprisonment to 30 years: Accorinti and Razionale
Giuseppe Accorinti from Zungri and Saverio Razionale from San Gregorio d’Ippona, convicted for the “white lupara” of Roberto Soriano from Filandari and for the murder of Antonio Lo Giudice from Piscopio which occurred in August 1996, then go from life imprisonment to 30 years of imprisonment each. Antonio Vacatello from Vibo Marina goes from 30 years to 17 years and 8 months, while Pantaleo Garisto and Valerio Navarra pass by sentenced to 20 years in the first degree with a sentence of 11 years, one month and 10 days each, all accused of having kidnapped a person in Cernusco sul Naviglio and taken him to Calabria in order to make him pay a previous debt. Andrea Mantella (a justice collaborator from Vibo) was also sentenced to 14 years, held solely responsible for the “white lupara” (January 2002) of his cousin Filippo Gangitano.
