When the investigation into the Nemo Sud Center of the Policlinico “exploded” in the world of Messina healthcare, it was May 2024, it made a lot of noise, and the accusation was completely different and much more serious for the suspects. At the center are the administrative relations between the clinical center for treatment of neurological diseases and the “G. Martino” university hospital. A public-private agreement according to the “outlawed” Prosecutor’s Office and despite everything perpetuated from 2012 until 2021, extended several times over the years until the closure of the structure decided by the then rector of the University of Messina Salvatore Cuzzocrea in June 2021.
After a long time and after a series of intermediate acts, the deputy prosecutor Rosa Raffa and the deputy of the DDA Piero Vinci last July had requested the indictment, only on the hypothesis of complicity in corruption, of only two of the initial suspects. That is, the president of the Aurora Onlus Foundation Alberto Fontana and the former director of the clinical center, prof. Giuseppe Vita. To this they had added the Aurora Foundation itself in terms of criminal liability as a legal person. Who are assisted by lawyers Bonni Candido, Elena Florio and Daniela Lauro.
