As Con.si.pe. we have been denouncing the inadequacy for some time now of penitentiary facilities to house inmates with psychiatric or psychological problems, but even today the status quo has not seen any, albeit minimal, sign of change. The Barcelona Penitentiary Police staff who have the burden of ensuring the safety of many psychiatric inmates continue to be asked for daily sacrifices but now, according to CON.SI.PE., the time has come to give concrete answers to ensure work shifts that do not end up in hospital emergency rooms”, concludes Nicotra.
