The Norwegian police said the 27-year-old son of Norway’s crown princess Mette-Marit was arrested on suspicion rape. The police stated that Marius Borg Hoibyborn from a relationship prior to Mette-Marit’s 2001 marriage to the Crown Prince Haakonwas arrested last night.
He is suspected of violating the penal code «which concerns sexual relations with a person unconscious or for other reasons unable to resist the act,” the statement reads. “What the police can say about rape is that it is a sexual act without intercourse. There victim she would not have been able to resist the act,” police said.
Borg Hoiby was arrested on August 4 following a nocturnal quarrel in a woman’s apartment a Oslo and accused of causing physical harm to the resident, with whom he was having an affair, police said. According to Norwegian media, police found a knife stuck in one of the walls of the woman’s bedroom. In September he was arrested again for violating a restraining order.
According to the police, yesterday when he was arrested he was in car with the alleged victim of the August incident. Police also said that suspicions related to the August incident now included thedomestic abuse. It has not yet been decided whether the boy will be subjected to precautionary custody.
Hoiby was born in 1997 from a relationship prior to the marriage of Mette-Maritwhich occurred in 2001, with the Crown Prince Haakonthe heir to throne of Norway. He and his half-brothers – the Princess Ingrid Alexandra20 years old, and the Prince Sverre Magnus18 years old – were raised together by Mette-Marit and Haakon. Unlike them, it doesn’t have a official public role.
