Italy wins bronze in the figure skating team event at the Milan Cortina Olympic Games. After the tests of the dance couples (Charlene Guignard-Marco Fabbri), artistic couples (Sara Conti-Niccolò Macci) and the female (Lara Gutmann) and male (Matteo Rizzo) singles, the team finished in third place behind Ilia Malinin’s USA and Japan.

The Milan Ice Skating Arena exploded after Matteo Rizzo’s performance in the men’s singles, which practically guaranteed the medal. By shouting first “Italy, Italy” and then “Matteo, Matteo”, all those present celebrated the historic medal for the Azzurri, with Rizzo who, to the tune of the Interstellar soundtrack, also set his personal seasonal record in the free program. And at the end of the performance the 27 year old, born in Rome but raised in Sesto San Giovanni, a few km from Assago, after the ovation from the entire audience, let himself go into a celebration complete with a slide on the ice, ending with a hug to the blue team through tears.
