The Executive of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has provisionally lifted the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee, effective 12 October 2023.
Green light to return to team competitions
The decision partially lifts the restrictions imposed on Russian athletes, allowing them to return to team competitions and participate in the qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
The limits on the flag and anthem remain
At the moment, however, athletes will not immediately regain the use of the national anthem and the Russian flag, while the opening also includes specific requirements for anti-doping monitoring. (HANDLE)
