On the occasion of Violence Against Women Day, the municipal nurseries managed by the Salus Cooperative were the protagonists of an awareness initiative that involved children, families and institutions. A message of respect and hope sent by the little ones
On November 25, being the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Vibo Salus Social Cooperative – which manages the “Oasi delle Coccole” municipal nursery in Vibo Valentia and the “Il Villaggio degli Abbracci” municipal nursery in Rombiolo – promoted an awareness initiative aimed at children and their families.
A series of activities dedicated to children took place in the two structures, tailored to their age. Through games, music, colors and simple relationship exercises, the little ones were able to recognize and practice gestures of kindness and care towards others.
«The heart of the initiative was a collective creative workshop, during which the children created hearts, colored hands and small red shoes, symbols of memory and commitment against all forms of violence. Each creation was dedicated to women and the female figures who are part of their daily lives. A simple gesture, but with a strong educational value, which once again wanted to reiterate a clear message: respect is learned from childhood and builds a future without violence. To testify to the importance and transversality of the theme, in addition to the director of the Cooperativa Vibo Salus Lucia Luzza, Lorenza Scrugli, Councilor for Social Policies of the Municipality of Vibo Valentia and Laura Papaianni, Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Rombiolo were also present, representing the mayor Caterina Contartese and the presence of Vincenza Salerno, professional educator of the Vibo Valentia municipal nursery school, was also fundamental, explaining the importance of how to help children to develop respectful relationships already in the daily life of the nursery.
Also present on the day was Palmina Moscato from the Ariel Association, an anti-violence center active since 2012 in the Calabrian area, which offered a qualified contribution to raising awareness and dialogue with families. Finally, special support was given by the Institute for the Family – IPF of Ionadi, which donated gadgets to the children, making the initiative even more participatory and heartfelt.”
