The derby between Igea Virtus and Messina ends in a draw, which leaves a bitter taste for both. The hosts thus officially remain out of the playoffs while Messina wastes the opportunity to take home three points away from home: the Giallorossi still have a good chance of reaching the playouts. In the next match Messina will host Milazzo at home while the “rival” Sancataldese will go to Savoia, heading towards promotion. Oliviero’s first ring from distance, diagonal from 30 meters just wide. Immediate response from Samake who, from a few steps away, finishes weakly into the arms of Giardino following a ball in the middle from Longo in the 4th minute. Three minutes later Igea again breaks through from the left, with Squillace putting it in the middle again for Samake who heads it wide. Again from the left, this time from a free kick, Longo crosses, Vacca heads just outside the small area. Sensational opportunity in the 23rd minute for Messina, with Tedesco working a ball from the right, turning it towards the center of the area where Matese all alone from a few steps away sensationally shoots out with his left foot. Similar outcome in the 25th minute, this time a cross from the right by Cess, Samake comes running but crushes the header too much and the ball ends up on the bottom. Another Barcelona performance after half an hour with Cess attempting a sharp shot that ends up on the outside of the net. Peloritana responded in the 36th minute with a free kick from Bombaci over the barrier which forced Testagrossa to take refuge in the corner with a plastic flight. There isn’t a moment’s respite, Igea double chance: first Joao Pedro and then Longo challenge Giardino who overcomes himself. In the 41st minute the match broke the deadlock: Tourè brought the ball forward from the left, finding time for the through ball for Zucco’s tap-in. Endless emotions, in the 45th minute Longo’s shot but Giardino flies with his fist and deflects it for a corner.
The second half begins with a good opportunity for De Caro, who from a good position heads over Zucco’s free kick. In the 13th minute it was Giardino who overcame Maddaloni’s header. Four minutes later, Longo’s play: stop, return, ball around and Giardino flies, deflecting the ball onto the crossbar before it goes out of the back. It is the prelude to Cicirello’s goal (18′) who finds space and time for a deflection on a corner. On the other side, Testragrossa blocks Bombaci’s free kick from the right with his fists.
