Orange weather alert in Lamezia, mayor Mascaro closes schools for today

The mayor of Lamezia Terme, Paolo Mascaroissued an order (n. 66/2024) ordering the closure of all schools of all levels, as well as municipal nursery schools, for 9 December 2024. The decision was taken following theorange weather alert issued by the Civil Protection of Calabriawhich predicts critical weather conditions, with possible intense rainfall and consequent risks to public safety.

The ordinance, issued to prevent dangerous situations for the population, underlines how the worsening of weather conditions could cause significant risks to people’s safety, inconvenience to road and pedestrian traffic and complications in public transport. The closure also involves the school complex of the Borrello-Fiorentino Comprehensive Institute located in Gizzeria Lido.

Emergency services and local authorities have been alerted to monitor the situation and intervene if necessary. Citizens are invited to pay maximum attention and limit non-essential travel. Any appeals against the ordinance can be presented to the Calabria TAR or to the Council of State within the deadlines established by law.
