Over 5 million euros for nine new nursery schools in Messina

The Ministry of Education and Merit has approved the funding allocated to the Municipality of Messina for the construction and conversion of nursery schools as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), financed by the European Union – Next Generation EU.

Messina gets 5 million and 400 thousand euros for the following interventions:

– Ex Macello Tremestieri School (New Tremestieri kindergarten): €672,000 for the conversion with demolition and reconstruction of an existing building not already used as a nursery (28 places);

– Villaggio Contesse C.da Calispera Rural buildings (New Calispera nursery): €816,000 for the reconversion with demolition and reconstruction of a building intended for nursery school (34 places);

– Former Rodia primary school (New Rodia nursery school): €360,000 conversion of an existing building not already used as a nursery (15 places);

– Ajossa School (New Ajossa nursery): €960,000 for the conversion with demolition and reconstruction of an existing building not already used as a nursery (40 places);

– Former Torrente Trapani wash house (New Trapani nursery): €408.00 for new construction/expansion (17 places);

– Nervesa barracks (New Nervesa nursery); €792,000 for new construction/extension (33 places);

– Torri Morandi Properties (New Torri Morandi nursery): €576,000 for the conversion of an existing building not already used as a nursery (24 places);

– Former Bisconte Cataratti school (New Bisconte nursery school): €260,000.00 conversion of an existing building not already used as a nursery (13 places);

– CEP primary school – COMPLETION CLASSROOMS (New Santa Lucia nursery): €600,000.00 conversion of existing building not already used as a nursery (30 places).

This is an important result that will allow us to expand the educational offer for the 0-3 year age group, improving services for families and promoting access to early childhood education.

The Ministry also announced the allocation of a further 150 million euros to finance the furnishings of nursery schools, with the related tenders arriving in the coming months.
