“At Palarussello you can’t save goats and cabbages!”. With this expression the municipal councilor Free Youth, group leader of Fratelli d’Italia, comments on the decision of the Basile Administration to grant in free loan for use of some spaces of the Palarussello at the Messina social city.
“I would like to point out – says Gioveni – that I am the first to want to improve the quality of the company’s services (and my speeches in the Chamber aimed at improving them are certainly proof of this) – explains Gioveni – but on the other hand we certainly cannot penalise the sporting activity of companies that already suffer from the less than efficient logistical and structural conditions of the facilities, also because the sporting activity of the kids certainly has, in many contexts, social purposes.
The choice to use the former caretaker’s house (which would not currently be appropriate to host a CSE) and even the external spaces for the storage of company vehiclesI am not at all convinced and I consider it completely inappropriate and illogical – continues the councilor – because the ones who will certainly suffer will be the sports clubs which, as is known, do not already enjoy efficient services under normal conditions.
Moreover – insists the FdI representative – Palarussello is already located in an urban context totally devoid of parking and it is clear that the outdoor spaces are useful to the users of the facility, not to mention the families or fans who flock there in large numbers when matches are played.
Furthermore – adds Gioveni – one of these companies, playing in the national under 19 championship, will have the obligation to have an infirmary (which is currently lacking), or an external ambulance whose functionality, however, with the parking lots that would be occupied by MSC vehicles, would certainly be compromised!
I therefore ask Mayor Basile to review this decision – concludes the FdI group leader – both in the interest of the sports clubs that use the Palarussello, and in the interest of Messina social city itself, which certainly deserves to enjoy its own spaces without any interference from third parties.
