Once again, Palmi found itself without water and, once again, without adequate warning. The Faro Movement is reporting yet another sudden interruption of the water service, expressing strong concern for a situation that is now recurring and increasingly difficult for citizens and economic activities to sustain. The lack of water has affected several neighborhoods of the city, putting entire inhabited areas in serious difficulty.
Among the areas most affected are Vitica and San Miceli, but the hardship has also spread to other parts of the municipal territory. A problem that heavily impacts the daily lives of families, forced to deal with the absence of an essential service communicated with very little notice. The emergency also had repercussions on the city centre. Yesterday evening, numerous commercial activities saw the possibility of working regularly and peacefully compromised, suffering organizational and economic inconveniences.
According to the Lighthouse Movement, this is a critical issue that involves the entire community and which can no longer be addressed with generic explanations or with reference to external responsibilities. The movement underlines how Palmi’s water problem has remained unresolved for almost ten years, despite its direct impact on the quality of life of citizens and on the economic fabric of the city. For this reason, the need to abandon any form of minimization or sterile political opposition is reiterated, focusing instead on a responsible, transparent approach oriented towards definitive solutions.
